MIA

Hi friends!! I am so sorry to have gone missing! Life happened.

I was home for a week last week (HURRAH!) and I didn't stop all week! I was busy seeing friends and family, doing wedding things, and trying to relax. Didn't happen.

I'm back at work today trying to catch up. Today is like the worst day ever. I need a vacation to regroup from vacation! It was great, though!

Needless to say, blogging is on the back burner. I may be back tomorrow, but I can't promise anything! The next 6 weeks are going to be very crazy in Charlotte land! I do want to update you on my week at home, but that may have to wait!

Hope you all had a great and relaxing Thanksgiving.

I'll still be around on social media (duh), so you can find me on Twitter and Instagram (both @charlotteperrow).

xoxo

Friday Fancies: Black Friday

I can't really do the whole get up at 2 am to get to the mall for Black Friday shopping thing. I do not have the patience or commitment for that! I may do a little online shopping from the couch at home, but you won't find me at Wal-Mart! I really do need to get some Christmas shopping done, and I might fight the crowds for wedding party outfits, but I seriously doubt it!

After Thanksgiving meals, I need to go on a long run, so that will be at the top of my to-do list!

Since I Live in the Midwest..

This is absolutely hilarious. You may not be able to read it very well, but hit the "source" link at the bottom to take you to the website to read it better.

This is SOOOOOO true if you aren't from the Midwest. I can't stop laughing!!

I think I even mistake these states. My family laughs because people ask... What state does Charlotte lives in? Indiana? Idaho? Ohio?? Some I state!

Too funny..

Monogram Madness

I'm from the South. It's true that I love ALL things monogrammed. My Midwestern friends and coworkers constantly give me a hard time about it, but I think they are secretly jealous!

I am always scouring Pinterest and online stores looking for monogrammed items! Now that my monogram will change from cPk to cLp, I am thinking of new items that I want need!

Here are some at the top of my list!

Friday Fancies: Autumn Treat

Happy Friday! This has been such a long week! I don't know if it is because I was waiting for my birthday, if I am really excited to go home tomorrow, work has been slow, or what! I just know I am glad I made it through the week! Next week is going to be jam-packed, so I don't really know how much I'll be around in blogosphere.

I love today's Friday's Fancies theme: Autumn Treat. What a fun idea as we wrap up fall. It is really beginning to feel like winter here in Illinois. I'm excited for a little warmer weather on the East Coast tomorrow!

I made butternut squash soup (courtesy of Lara) a few weeks ago and one of the ingredients was apple cider. I had not had real apple cider in so long and MAN it was good! I would throw a little in the microwave when we sat around the bonfire.

I thought that apple cider would be a fun theme for today instead of the normal pumpkin treats that we all think of for fall!

Stocking Stuffer: Sallie's Greatest

I need to introduce all of you to Sallie's Greatest. Sallie is a really good family friend of mine. For years, she was in the pharmaceutical industry, but then she started making her homemade jam. Very quickly it turned from a hobby to a business!

I've had the luxury of working with Sallie a few times and my family buys her jam religiously! I sold her jam for her a few times as well as worked with her with the Certified SC Grown program the past few years. Sallie mixes everyday SC fruit with herbs to make a truly unique product. If you didn't know, I am all about agriculture, especially supporting local farmers and producers. If you are too, look no further than Sallie's Greatest! I love her "Love Thy Farmer" tagline. So very fitting! And if you've never seen a real field of cotton, there you go!!

Some of her jams include:

To make things even more exciting, Sallie's Greatest was recently chosen as one of Oprah's 2012 Favorite Things!! This is huge for her business! The jams were also featured in Garden and Gun Made in the South. If you go to the link, you may have to scroll to the bottom and find the jam in the widget.

Her jam is to die for! We use it lots of ways.. mainly as normal jam, but also to add to an appetizer.

My favorite is the Blueberry + Lavender, especially on bleu cheese! Ty is a huge bleu cheese fan!

1 block of Bleu Cheese
1/2 jar of Blueberry + Lavender Jam
Spoon ½ jar of Sallie’s Greatest Blueberry + Lavender Jam over a block of Bleu Cheese. Serve with crackers.

You can find all of her yummy recipes here.

Seriously, order a couple for your family members for Christmas. I promise they won't disappoint!

This post was not sponsored by Sallie's Greatest and I am not receiving anything for this post. All opinions are my own!

Bonfire Attire + BFF Birthday!

Bonfires are a very normal thing for us out in the country! Tyler and his friends love to sit around the fire and drink beer while I sip on my spiked hot cocoa. I have learned that I don't have to be oh-so-cute when people come over because it is usually FREEZING! I also hate hate hate smelling like bonfire smoke! I usually throw on a couple of layers to try to get my good clothes from smelling stinky!

If I were trying to look cute, though, here is what I would wear to a fun bonfire!

Bonfire

J.Crew // slim fit jeans
UGG Australia // tan boots
 Inverni //  beanie hat

In addition to this Friday Fancie's post, I MUST wish my BFF Kensley a happy birthday!

Kensley is one of my bridesmaids and was my roommate two years of college. We had so much fun living together... maybe a little too much fun!

Our birthdays are a week a part, so we always celebrated the whole month of November together!

The top left picture of from 2006... Kens and I became friends at Palmetto Girls State. We were suitemates and hit it off immediately because we both wanted to go to Wofford! We decided then and there to live together and I am SO glad we did for two years until she studied abroad in Italy!

Top right picture was from last fall at Homecoming.

Bottom left is freshman year... Such babies!

And the pouting picture has and always will be my favorite! Kens was really mad at me that night out because I wanted to hang out with a boy at the SAE house, but she was ready to go back to our room! Told you we had a ton of fun! I could go on and on and on from the past 6 years!

Happy #24 Kens! Have a great day! XOXOXO

Happy Friday everyone! Whoo hoo!!

Thursday Thoughts

I'm going to be honest. I really don't have much to blog about so this is going to be a random post!

Have you seen that Pinterest finally rolled out private boards today? I am so excited! I'm sick of having to save pictures on my desktop instead of putting them in a folder online! I want to keep a lot of my wedding info secretive so my wedding looks original and not overdone online! Read the article from the Today Show here.

Land's End is having a great sale that lasts until next week! It is great!! Thanks to Megan for filling me in!

This cold weather here is making me feel awful! I hate the cold, dry weather. My face fels gross and the barametric pressure is just a-killin' my head! My poor coworker has pneumonia, so I'm going to take her some soup at lunch!

I am SO glad the election is over. Now if everyone can calm down about Obama's re-elction. Some of us may not be happy about it, but what can we do? All the social media hatred needs to stop NOW!

I have gotten some of my sweet friends birthday gifts from Crystal's Boutique! Can't wait for them to receive them! November is the month of birthdays for a lot of my friends!

I need to start Christmas shopping! I just HATE the thought of buying things and then having to ship them home for Christmas, so I guess I will order everything online this year. Byebye bank account!

I've been kicking butt at work the past few weeks. Pretty proud of myself! Now if only I can get some commission checks to come in! :)

Did you see my fantastic buy last weekend? I found these boots at Target for $10.06! They were on sale after someone returned them from online! I was THRILLED!!

Well, that's all for now! Back to the blog tomorrow for #FridaysFancies. Happy Thursday!

Wedding Wednesday: The Future

Today's Wedding Wednesday post is a little different than normal. I'm drawing a blank on wedding plans and updates, even though we are working on things. I don't want to post everything on my blog, as I want some thing to be a surprise on March 23!

I posted on twitter to help get some ideas about what you would like to read today, and thanks to Crystal, I have a post! Again, it may be a little different, so here goes nothing!

Her idea was: 10 things you think you will do as a housewife.

Well, first off, I'm not 100% sure where our "home" will be! That is a whole post for another day, just not today! I do know that I am really excited about our future and making a house our home! I've been trying to collect things that I think match our personalities!

Tyler and I eat dinner together almost every night. Luckily, he LOVES to cook and grill which is awesome for me since I get off work later than he does. We usually take turns cooking which is awesome. We also have the rule that whoever cooks doesn't have to do the dishes. This was true up until he moved to the country where he doesn't have a dish washer... that would be ME!! Haha, I'm kind of kidding but not. We get along really well in the kitchen and I am really thankful for that! I really hope that continues... forever!

Now to the "meat and potatoes" of my post!

We haven't gone through marriage counseling yet since we are 12 hours away from our minister, but that will happen over the holidays. I've read numerous places that there are 4 VERY important aspects to talk about during counseling and with your significant other before you get married: money, religion, kids, and in-laws.

Money

Tyler is so very wonderful with handling money. He has his budget on his computer and is very watchful of it. We both enjoy splurging every now and then, but with important things to pay for and trying to make a good living, we both understand the value of saving. We both are terrified of credit card debt, and are really good about paying off our cards almost weekly!

Religion

Religion is something we also share the same views on and have compromised some already. I grew up in a very small rural Methodist church with about 60 members. We are all related and are very, very traditional- hymnals, dress clothes, etc etc. Tyler grew up going to a more up-and-coming church with powerpoints, a worship band, and casual dress. Luckily, this is something easy to compromise! We started going to a nondenominational church here. I still try to dress up, but I have learned to embrace the worship band and see the powerpoints up on the screen! I do like to sing songs that I can hear on the radio later! Whatever your denomination, you are still worshipping the Lord... that's what matters!

Kids

We talk about kids a lot, I mean if you are getting married, isn't that normal? I'll be honest-- I'm scared of kids and he knows that. I'm not scared of being a mom or having responsibilities, I'm scared of the physical pain of pregnancy. Have I told you I'm a HUGE baby when it comes to pain? Again, another subject for another day. We have agreed on a number of kids. We both are very close to our siblings and think its important to share your life with them! Ty grew up in a military family, so there was definitely discipline, which I think is also important! So glad we agree on that!!

Hello mini Tylers!

In-Laws

Lastly, in-laws... We both are SO blessed to get along so very well with each other's parents! His dad is currently here for the week hunting with Ty and I have loved every minute of it! I hate that his mom isn't here too, but she has to stay back in PA to teach! The first time I met his parents, I knew that I would fit in great with his family. They really mind me a lot of my parents. Ken and Heather are so much fun and we always have a blast together. We are also very in  touch via text, phone calls, skype, and email since we are 12 hours away from each other! Ty also loves my parents. He actually met my dad a few weeks before he met me! They have so much in common-- farming, hunting, outdoors, etc! I am so thankful they have lots of common ground. I can't imagine not getting along with your in-laws. I get so excited thinking about having 2 sets of parents... and in 2 very different places-- SC and PA. Sometimes its very frustrating not having them both down the road, but hopefully some day when they can retire, we'll all be close.

So there is my ramblings for my Wedding Wednesday! I'm so blessed to have Tyler in my life and I am 150% sure the Lord put him in my life at the perfect time!

What are you thankful for in your marriage?

Peppermint > Pumpkin

It's only the first few days of November and people are already going crazy over Christmas! Halloween was just over, now Christmas things are all over the place in stores. I can't believe it! While I like November because its my birthday month (10 days to be exact), I also think Thanksgiving is very important and shouldn't be overlooked!

With that said, I love Thanksgiving, but I love even more the food and goodies that post-Thanksgiving brings. I feel like this fall everything has been pumpkin-ed out.. I am now ready for peppermint season!

This weekend Tyler and I were out running errands while I found about 100 new peppermint things that I am now obsessed with.

First, I love a white chocolate peppermint mocha (skinny) 10000x more than any pumpkin spice latte. Can I get an Amen?? I mean, the pumpkin latte's are nice, but I much prefer the peppermint mocha! And I could honestly care less if its in a red Starbucks cup or a purple cup! I also saw McDonald's has them out, too! I don't have a Starbucks close by, so McDs will have to do for now!

I also came across these FABULOUS peppermint white chocolate M & Ms! HOLLA!! These are amazing. I am going to have to stock up for the rest of the year!!

Then, I was getting some last minute groceries before Tyler's dad got here and found this chex mix. It is divine. I still have a stomach ache from eating half of the bag yesterday. I'm not even kidding!

I discovered this deliciousness last winter... I don't love the taste of this coffee as much as I love the incredible smell! Sometimes I just want to make the coffee to make the house smell nice!

I saw these while in Wal-Mart, grabbed them and thought... "I'll find a good recipe for them later!" Well, I did just as I was looking for the picture on Google!

source
How amazing do these look? I swear, finding food blogs is destroying my wedding diet!!

source
I cannot wait to make these! I'm so excited!!

I may be a huge weirdo, but I love things peppermint flavored, but not plain peppermints. Yes, weird.

What is your favorite peppermint recipe? Send them my way PLEASE!!!!!

Have a great Monday!

Happy Year 1 to Me!

I cannot believe it! I have officially been in Illinois for one year TODAY!

On November 1, 2011, my mom and I packed my car and set out on the 12.5 hour drive from South Carolina to Illinois to start my new life here! You can see that blog post here before I left, here when I got there, and here after a few days in!

What a year it has been...

Experienced my first road trip with Tyler from IL to PA for Thanksgiving.

Lost my white cat Lily.

Went to Kansas City and Chicago.

Traveled home for Christmas and my best friend's wedding.

Took a weekend trip to Chicago in the snow.

Traveled to Wisconsin Dells and Minneapolis for work and hit the jackpot at the Mall of America.

Finally made my apartment mine.

Flew to Atlanta for my friend Mary's wedding.

Ran my first 10k race and then started running 5ks.

Traveled to Iowa for Cinco de Mayo with friends.

Drove to Nashville for a sweet friend's wedding.

GOT ENGAGED in Charleston!

Lost our family dog Abby.

Traveled to Pennsylvania for Tyler's grandmother's funeral.

Went back to Nashville for my roommate's bachelorette party.

Ran my first Race for the Cure for breast cancer.

Flew to Rhode Island for Tyler's brother's wedding.

Took a quick weekend trip home.

Holy cow. What a list of places, things, and travels.

That was an entire YEAR. Can't believe it!

Thank all of your for your love and support over this last year! So much has happened, and so much more is in the works! Can't wait to continue sharing my life with you as I document it on my blog. I'm so thankful for the friends I have made on this blog.

Happy Thursday!
