thursday thoughts and rants

I decided today that I should just make a list of things that are driving me crazy lately. We all have them, let's be honest. I've been a little overwhelmed with life and yes, some of these annoyances are actual real life things, the others... things like.... soffe shorts can be laughed off.. Let's begin.

Today's list of things that are driving me bat $hit crazy lately:

 1. Mean People

Of course this one is making the top of the list. Luckily, I haven't really had anyone be super mean to me lately (please lets not make this post make that happen soon, this is all in good fun), but there are just plain MEAN people out there. You know, those people who constantly comment mean things on your social media outlets (anonymous or not- if you still allow anon comments, block that shizz people). People that just don't give a crap about you or your feelings and make it their life mission to make you miserable. Why? Do you have no values, morals, heart? Rawr. Mean people are everywhere and they need to go away. What about the mean people in front of you in the grocery store line that have one million items and you have two and are in the "20 items or less" line, oh yeah and they are on food stamps but buying Oreos and shrimp. Whoops that a whole post for a later day. But seriously, why don't they ever kindly let you go in front of them?

2. Speaking of grocery stores, DOES IT DRIVE ANYONE ELSE CRAZY WHEN THE BUGGIES, CARTS, WHATEVER YOU CALLTHEM AREN'T CORRECTLY RETURNED? I swear every time I go to BiLo, Walmart, Publix, Target, etc, those buggies (sorry I'm from the south and I'm not talking about the Amish here) are all over the parking lot. How hard is it to walk them to their return spot!?!?! Not hard people, not hard. And I know I've hit one of those suckers before. Welcome to America where we are lazy and don't return shopping carts.

Yup I took these.

3. ALL CAPS

I was taught by a very incredibly fabulous English professor at Wofford that ALL CAPS in writing meant you are screaming. Why yes, I did just write above in all caps, but I usually scream when I get in my car about the buggies left all over the parking lot. There is no need to send a professional work email in all caps. No reason. Drives me nuts and I feel like the person is screaming at me to change my voicemail password because the email was in all caps. Dr. Wilson, I hope you don't read my blog because I would be MORTIFIED (in a screaming voice).

4. Mosquitos

These little f-er's are ruining my life. If you didn't know, I interned for a power company in 2010 that had an environmental division, as well as a vector management division (that means pest control basically). I was mortified that I was being rotated through mosquito camp for two weeks one summer, but it turned out to be two of the best weeks of my life. I learned so much about those pesky things. If you have dog bowls left outside, puddles of water, or a pond like we do behind your house, you better believe you have a breeding ground for mosquitos. And probably Ades Albopictus (yep I know the scientific name) who love to lay little eggs in the standing water and make your life miserable. I may or may not have emailed our homeowners association to kindly ask them to spray for them. I didn't even have to break out my work email (because we insure them) and threaten the "C" (claim) word. Heaven forbid I catch west nile.

Every time I walk outside those suckers eat me alive. Evidence:

That's my arm and that bite's the size of a quarter. Allergic much?
5. Soffe Shorts

It's not 2003. If you are over 14 years old and still wear soffe shorts, PLEASE toss them, goodwill them, wear them as underwear but don't wear them to the gym.

That's all I'll say about that.

6. The Paula Deen situation

Can we just leave her alone? The lady said a derogatory word and its like she killed someone. Oh and it was 30 years ago. Don't we have bigger and better things in our country to worry about? We've all said something inappropriate or mean (see #1) before and apologized. I don't really know what else to say about this other than its annoying the crap out of me and I want it to go away. I don't even love the woman, but I have been to her restaurant in Savannah (shout out to you Cornbread and Sushi class lovers) and she does make some dang good fried green tomatoes. I can tell you about 025852039575 other people who are much more racist than Paula will ever be.

I forgive you Paula. I do.

Well, that's all folks.

Please tell me, what is annoying you lately?

Poor Paula. I don't love her either but I am down for some of her Fried Foods from Lady and Son's any day! Give the woman a break. We can all relive a moment we wished we could take back.

I'm 100% with you on the Soffee shorts... even though I still sleep in some of mine. I don't wear them out in public! And yes, lets give Paula a break. Everyone, at some point, has said something hurtful about someone else!

hahahaaha I miiiight be wearing soffee shorts right now BUT I just woke up! I never wear them in public though but they are great for sleeping in! I am so over the Paula thing too...people need to devote their time and energy to other things. I'm sure as soon as some other Hollywood scandal happens people will forget all about what she said!

HA! I was just thinking about soffe shorts the other day when a woman wore them to the mall. WITH A ROLLED WAISTBAND. Absurd. (Sorry 'bout the caps ;) ). And lord have mercy - Paula. Can we just drop this situation already??

The buggy thing drives me crazy especially if I come out and one is near my car grrr. People are so lazy! They need to give Paula a break and focus on things that are actually bad in the world.

I'm dying over here because we are twins. Number one is a HUGE annoyance of mine!! What is the point!? And same with Soffe shorts..nobody needs to see all of that.

The Paula Deen thing is pissing me off too. Ridonkulous! Also, my biggest pet peeve? People who back into parking spots!

Love this post!
I hate it when there are buggies all over the parking lot. It would take a person 30 seconds longer to return it rather than being lazy. And, if you know you are lazy, park by a buggy return. But, GASP!, that may mean walking 10 steps farther. God forbid we get a little healthy exercise, right?!

Did you know that for 2 summers I worked for mosquito control in Orangeburg? TRUE STORY! (yes, I'm screaming that) I actually had to collect and identify mosquitos to make sure there were not any that could be carrying West Nile. At one time, I knew all the scientific names, as well. I feel like it has made me more well-rounded. Hahaha.

Anyway, this is a lengthy comment, so I'll cut it off now.

Mean people are driving me insane lately. I swear I have seen more "mean people" lately than I have in whole life. I swear it is the heat. Puts people in a horrible mood!!

This just made my day! Thanks for the laugh! Love you! Here's to hoping you don't run into any mean people any time soon! XOXO-Becca

What bothers me is that black people can refer to white people as "crackers", and there is not nearly the same outrage that there is over a white person saying the N-word.

My mom summed up the Paula Deen situation in the best way I've heard, "Bless her heart."

The Paula Deen situation makes my skin actually crawl. There is such a double standard in this world today with the "n" word -- I mean, how many rappers and artists use the term explicitly and it's "okay" because it is part of their "music." Really, people? It drives me insane!!!!! Lord have mercy on what this world is coming to!

I love every single one of these things! I have had a very bad battle this week with TEN (YES 10, and i am screaming) mosquito bites on my ANKLE ALONE! How does that even happen?! Look for an anti-itch pen called After Bite - the Itch Eraser. It is a saving grace, and I pretty much always have one in my purse this time of year. And soffe shorts are one of my hugest pet peeves. I just don't understand how those people look in the mirror and think "I look really good. And appropriate." After reading this, you are a girl after my own heart.

AMEN to all these! I'm so tired or hearing about this whole Paula Seen debacle. We all mess up! This happened over 3 decades ago...people, get over it!
