Homemade Reeses

Sorry for the lack of blogging lately. I've been reading blogs, just now blogging myself. I am alive, do not fret! I was out of town last weekend for work and was just too tired to think of anything to blog about.

Catching up today with my recipe for the homemade Reeses I made for Tyler for Valentines Day! They were delicious! I have to give all of the credit to The Whimsical Princess for the recipe.

Ingredients
  • 4 cups powdered sugar (you can really use a little bit less than 4 cups)
  • 1 1/2 cups Creamy Peanut butter (basically a small jar)
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon Shortening

this was after i used all the powered sugar i had!

Directions:
Mix together the powdered sugar, peanut butter, and butter. Add the milk one tablespoon at a time until it becomes a nice workable dough.  It will be just like play dough, it will be really easy to work with.

Form the dough into egg shapes, and place in the freezer for about an hour. I made them into balls and totally missed the freezer part in the recipe. Whoops.

Place the chocolate chips and shortening in a glass measuring cup.  Microwave 1 minute at a time stirring in between until completely melted.  (You can also use a double boiler if you prefer but I don't have one)

Dip each egg/ball/whatever in the melted chocolate and place on waxed paper until set. (I use a skewer and then slide the dipped egg of and cover the hole)

not very pretty, but so good!

I then put them into the refrigerator for a while to harden, and then enjoyed them for a week! They were AWESOME!

Enjoy with a big glass of milk :)

Ta ta,
