wedding recap: reception details

Details seriously make a wedding reception, am I right?

My mom and I, along with our decorator Cricket Newman really put a lot of thought and effort into all of the details.

The Cinema isn't the most exciting venue, but we really tried to make it work. Cricket and her staff are so good at what thy do and seriously transformed this old movie theater.

The lamps and console tables came from my mom's office and we displayed the guest book here for guests to sign.

I ordered these cocktail napkins through my friend Elizabeth's boutique, Formosa.

My dad and uncle came up with the signature drink idea. I thought of a "his and hers" but it got too complicated. We didn't want a full bar for many reasons, but I wanted at least one drink other than beer and wine. A madras was perfect because we could pre-mix the vodka, crandberry, and orange juice and unlike soda, it wouldn't go flat! It also helped make the lines at the bar go more quickly! We didn't want a slow bar at all.

Beef tenderloin.

Mini caesar salad bites. After the wedding one of my friends tried to recreate them and sent me a picture of the ones she made. They were a HIT!

This is such a classic Cricket Newman display!

Brownies- can you ask for more?

Open face cucumber and tomato sandwiches.

Southern ham biscuits.

I loved the centerpieces! The peach tree flowers made it!

We have leftover pecan pie bites and the maple cookies (frozen) and dang it they are still as good today as they were on March 23!

Beautiful fruit display!

This table cloth was my maternal grandmother's Army-Navy tablecloth. The silver goblets are also my paternal grandmother's.

This draping was beautiful! It covered the kitchen that we didn't want guests to see. Thank you Cricket!

These were our favors for our guests. I really wanted to do boiled peanuts or some sort of peanut but our venue doesn't allow anything peanut because of allergies. These Nams Bits Chocolate Chip cookies were a hit! My mom's company was able to order them wholesale for us! You can find them online here on Amazon.

Miscellaneous Wedding Wednesday- Hair, Colors, Parties

I don't really have a theme for today, so I'm just going to post some updates and wedding thoughts.

Yesterday marked 5 months until the big day... FIVE.
Oh. My. Gosh!

We have started scheduling parties and showers now that I know what my life is going to look like in the upcoming months... So far I have a Christmas shower (thanks Becca!), Cocktail party (Mom's friends), Sunday dinner (family friends), Engagement party (in PA), Church shower (church ladies), family supper (family friends), and Bachelorette party (YAY!). Yikes. That is a lot and I know more are going to pop up! Will keep you posted!

I've been looking at wedding hair.. The problem is that I have VERY thin hair and it doesn't do much. I've been growing it out to get some length but I'll probably need some extensions or something. Luckily, my sweet high school friend Haley agreed to do my wedding hair!

 Here are my recent pins:

I am so very ready to send the Save the Dates. I have them all addressed and ready, I am just waiting on the rubber stamp to stamp my parents' return address. I simply cannot write that address over 200+ times. Not happening. I addressed all of them myself, that was enough!

Here is what they'll look like but with my parents' address:

A lot of you have asked me about my wedding colors. I am keeping the bridesmaids dresses a secret (because I can hehe), but I'll be vague.. The only "color" I have incorporated already are the dresses and flowers. The dress color is like a seafoam green/light blue kind of color and I am having light pink/hot pink flowers- peonies, pink hydrangeas, tulips, maybe some roses. My grandmother loves tulips and I was named after her and her birthday and when she died is in March, so that will be a tribute to her!

I am almost finished with our wedding website, I am just waiting on Tyler to finalize his ushers and best man (formally ask him) and I can put up the wedding party page! If you want to see it now, you can view it at www.weddingwire.com/charlotteandtyler.

That's it for today, but next week will be the Save the Dates and Engagement Announcement from our local papers!

Ta ta,

Will You Be My Bridesmaid?

Happy Wedding Wednesday!

Once we got engaged, I knew I wanted to do something special for my bridesmaids. Since I live so far away from all of them, I wanted to do something different.

I searched and searched and searched, and finally came up with the perfect idea thanks to a combination of Pinterest and Etsy.

I am having 8 bridesmaids and a matron of honor. They are all my best friends and girls that I wouldn't feel right standing up at the alter without.

I first made paper dolls for each of my bridesmaids. I had to be creative since I had so many and the scrapbook paper really only accommodated four. After a few weeks of visiting Hobby Lobby, cutting, gluing, and making cute little faces, my dolls were finished!

I also wanted adorable cards to go with the dolls. Again, I searched and searched and searched, then found Cami's Paperie. Let me tell you, she was so incredibly wonderful to work with! I told her what I wanted, and she quickly adjusted the proof. I feel like sometimes it takes shop owners forever to work on your order, but not Cami! She was awesome. I will be working again with her in the future! I promise you, you won't be disappointed if you ask her to design something for you!!

So without all of the boringly long details and how-to (unless you really want it), here is my short version of making the paper dolls.

finished product!

exciting envelopes!

I mailed them last Friday and finally had the last girl respond a week later! The suspense was KILLING me, but everyone said YES! So excited to have 9 of the closest women in my life stand beside me on the most important day of my life!

I will wait for another post to introduce all of the girls. Now if only I can get Tyler to ask all of his guys!

Did you ask your bridesmaids in a special way?

Ta ta,
