Friday Fancies: Outfit Crush

I really wish I could pull off an outfit like this... hipster, comfy, stylish... just not me!

One of the reasons I love {av}'s Friday Fancies is because I can put together outfits like this and pretend that I am wearing them!

Crush

This sweater looks so comfy, espeically if you add this low cut shirt under it.

I love a good pair of black  skinny jeans, and I hate that I cannot find a pair I love as much as the pair I have from New York & Company outlet circa 2010.

I really wish I owned these Dolce vita booties. I secretly want a pair of booties, but again, if you know me, you know that I cannot pull them off!

I think I could probably pull off this wristlet and plaid infinity scarf!

Another want on my list are Ray-Ban Aviators but again... not gonna happen. Boo. A girl can dream right!?!

As we speak, I am off in Rhode Island having a blast with my future family. So excited to spend the weekend celebrating Mr. and Mrs. Cameron Law!

Law and Order SVU Addiction

It's true.... I have a problem.

I don't know what it is about Law and Order SVU but I am completely obsessed with it. Last night was the season premiere and I was completely enthralled in the 2 hour episode! Seriously, I don't know what it is about that show. I know the whole storyline behind the show is kind of unhealthy and scary, BUT I just love this freaking show. A lot. I mean, enough to write a whole blog post on it!

I really hate Stabler left as well as the old ADAs. Benson might be the reason I still watch. I just love her (girl crush??).

During interim (like Maymester in January) freshman year, my roomie Kensley and I started watching this show because we were so bored and had nothing else to do.

My obsession got so crazy that I dressed up as Detective Bension for a ZTA Function (Famous Couples). You had a friend pick your date for you and then when you got to the function you had to find your secret partner. I asked my date myself and told him what to wear because he honestly had no idea who Detective Stabler was. He was such a good sport!

Bathroom pic. Typical freshmen.

THEN I started buying the seasons on DVD and my friends and I started passing them around.

I'm now to the point where I have seen every single episode. I still watch them over and over and Law and Order Tuesday on USA is my favorite day of the week!

So, yes. I am a weirdo and I love this show. It is my guilty pleasure! There you have it. I love this show!!!!

What is your favorite show?? I love Revenge too and CANT WAIT for the season premiere on Sunday night. Hope I get back in time from our flight into Indy.

Ta ta (or maybe I should start saying "dun dun" hehe),

Wedding Wednesday: This Weekend's Wedding!

Today's wedding Wednesday is not about me.... its about my future brother and sister-in-law!!!!

And thanks to everyone's advice on the spray tan.... going to get one tonight!! Wish me lucky... and no orangeness........

ANYWAYS!

Tyler and I are headed to Rhode Island on Friday morning early for his brother's wedding! I am so excited and ready for this weekend to be OVER so we can get there!

I have kind of been stressing about what to wear... Its a 4:30 outside wedding at a farm! I am a greeter/passing out programs, so I still want to look pretty and fairly dressy for my future new family!

Here is what I have put together...

Green- bridal luncheon Friday
Red- rehearsal dinner Friday
Black- wedding Saturday

Wedding Weekend

The above outfits are similar to what I am wearing... Not all are exact except for the red outfit.. I actually have all of the above!

I found this red J Crew cotton dress last minute on Sunday afternoon at the outlets! I think I'll be wearing my Tory Burch revas with the red dress to dress it down a bit... I finally get to use my leopard J Crew handbag Friday night too!

I have had this other black J. Crew dress in my closet for a year now.. It was a favorite consignment find! My nude pumps will probably be worn for a while with the black dress before my feet start hurting at the wedding. I'll wear my Monogram necklace for the wedding. And in case it is chilly on Saturday afternoon, I'm packing my pink scarf

These favorite Nine West black heels will be accompanying this dress from Francesca's Collections. . I'll be carrying a black clutch Friday with pearls

What do you think??

Can't wait to show you pictures from the weekend!

Self Tanner Help!

This is going to be short and sweet.

Tyler's brother's wedding is this weekend in Rhode Island.

I am pasty and white. I never got a good tan this summer.

I have 3 options:

1. Go pasty (I'd rather not)

2. Go get a spray tan tomorrow or Wednesday

3. Lather on lots of self tanner

These are my usual go-to self tanners:

Jergens Natural Glow

Nivea Moisturizer

What do I do?!?!?! Do you trust spray tans? I don't want to be orange but I don't wanna be ghostly!

I have a few local recommendations for spray tan salons. Just depends on how much time I have this week trying to pack, excerise and go out of town tomorrow for work.

Recommendations needed, accepted, and appreciated!!!!

Thanks in advance friends!

Homemade Hummus

Who doesn't love hummus?

Tyler's mom has an amazing recipe that I must share. She made it for us last fall and I have been meaning to make it for almost a year now!

Today at the grocery store, hummus was $4.99.... so much more fun to make it homemade and pay probably a little less to make more than the store brand!

15 oz can chick peas

1/8 cup tahini

1/2 teaspoon cumin

2 tablespoon lemon juice

1 red pepper (from can)

3 gloves garlic (I used 1 tablespoon minced garlic)

1 tablespoon juice from chick peas

Salt and pepper to taste

I had to resort to using a rolling pin.

Epic fail. I need a food processor like ASAP. I have one on my registry if ya wanna check it out and give it to me as a wedding gift?

Tried to blend it together....

Progress.

VOILA! It's a little chunkier than most hummus, but Tyler will still eat it!

I finally got to use my apron my aunt gave me!

Yummy and healthy afternoon snack! Enjoy!

Friday Fancies: GO WOFFORD!

Happy Friday! And Happy Friday Fancies! I love linking up with {av} on Fridays (And I love there is a chance she and I may meet her next weekend while I am in Providence!)

Even though Wofford has a bye this weekend (hello recruitment weekend, GO ZTA!!), I had to put together an outfit for this week's Friday Fancies theme!

Wofford

This is your typical Wofford gameday outfit. We wear dresses (and mostly flats) to our games! You can truly see from the pictures below we have a very distinct look for games!

This mustard dress from Modcloth is absolutely perfect for a Terrier football game.

Since it is getting chiller by the day (well, at least here in Illinois), you must take a cardigan with you in case it gets cold! Wofford students are really spoiled that there is an outlet mall just down the road from the school, so I stocked up on cardigans like these from J Crew
Another Wofford staple you will find are Tory Burch ballerina flats. Every girl and her mother has a pair. OR you can see girls sports cowboy boots like  these. Always a good choice.

Another good choice is a  black Longchamp to throw your tailgating goodies (read: booze) in to tailgate! We always had an awesome tailgating spot and SO much food (and mimosas). GOSH I MISS IT.

Last but not least, you need some cheap jewelry to throw on!

 1st Homecoming

Babies Freshman Year!

Guess I'll be cheering as Clemson takes on Florida State this weekend instead of my Terriers!

I'm not really sure who reads it and why, so today I have a bunch of questions for my readers so I can get to know you, plus some facts about me if you already didn't know!

I also realized yesterday that I completely missed my blog's birthday on September 7th. Whoops. Things have been crazy latey. So happy late birthday to my blog!

Did you know these facts about me?

I love cats. I was afraid I'd become a crazy single cat lady one day. But I do love our dog Sarge!

I never thought I'd move out of the state of SC.. and now I'm in Illinois.

Tyler and I were pretty much set up on a blind date... and now we're getting married on March 23, 2013.

I love pizza, Japanese food, cookies, and junk food. Hello fatty!

I want to be a good runner. One day I'll run a half marathon and maybe a full marathon.

I'm a recruiter. It's such an interesting industry.

I grew up on a farm and LOVE living in the country.

Now I want to know about YOU? Who are you? How did you find my blog? Why do you read?

I'm so curious!!!!!

I really truly do what to know who reads this blog of mine, so help me get to know you. If you want (and I would really love it if you would), leave a comment with the answer to these questions so I can get to know you!

Where Do You Shop?

I'm trying to start this Monday on a happy note....

I'm always really curious where people find their clothes. I am definitely a repeat shopper and go to the same places over and over and over! I thought it would be neat to give you a peak into my closet today.

I'm also one of those girls who HATES to pay for anything full price. I am blessed to have a pretty good outlet mall in my town. Since I have moved to Illinois, my closet has expanded 100%! I used to not be that much of a shopper but now I think that it is just therapy for me. I do try to be realistic and not spend my paycheck each month.

Below you will find some staples in my closet and please give me any insight where to find good deals. I always need dresses for weddings, etc, so if you have any ideas, let me know!

My Closet

I have recently discovered Modcloth where I find lots of dresses. I got this Strapless dress this summer for a wedding and ended up wearing it to our surprise engagement party.

Also in my closet are about half a dozen Old Navy cardigans. I have them in all kinds of colors because they are so easy to throw on in the morning if I have on a sleeveless top or dress.

I have a hard time finding jeans that fit me well. In college I discovered my first pair of J.Crew matchstick jeans.  Jeans always fit me weird. First off, I hate the tightness of jeans and how constricted I feel. Jeans either are way too big in the waist, but super tight in the booty. These fit me OH so well and if you find them when J Crew is having a denim sale, you can get them for a steal!

Old Navy yoga pants are a staple of mine in the winter. I am not a girl who likes to exercise in long pants, but I do love lounging on the couch in these!

You can also find a splurge in my closet every now and then. I snagged these Michael Kors loafers during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I usually don't buy TOO many nice things, but a good, comfortable pair of shoes was on my need list. I LOVE them!!

Other shoe staples in my closet come from Target. I actually have on the pink Merona flats today. Target shoes are always so easy since they are cheap and if I ruin them, I haven't lost a lot of money!

I also love Anthropologie's vintage jewelry and these were one of my purchases on my trip to Chicago with Tyler. Francescas is a nother go-to jewelry place!

No outfit is complete with out a pair of ray ban sunglasses and honestly, I am in the market for a new pair of som sort!

Another Target staple is their flannel ! I'm ready to break mine out!

Francescas is my go-to place for dresses. I know I've found some at Modcloth, but when you look into my closet, you'd think I only bought dresses from there. Again, very cheap and some of my all-time favorites are from this cute boutique!

So there you have it-- my favorite places to find my staple clothes. Where do you find yours?? Please share!!

Dear junk food, I wish you would go away. I am doing really great at the gym, but you taunt me. Halloween candy, that includes you, too.

Dear Tyler, I love you and your goofy self. You really make me laugh a lot.

Dear March 23, 2013, you are 190 days away... WOW!

Dear 5pm, hurry up. I'm making a pitstop by J Crew and Old Navy on my way home.

Fall Wishlist

This "fall" weather is a tease! Earlier this week it was nice and chilly... Now it is hot again! I've seen so many OOTD posts and outfits on Pinterest, so I decided it was time to make my fall wish list. I've added a few things to my wardrobe thanks to the new J Crew outlet in my town and Old Navy and Gap of course.

Below is what you will find on my fall wish list!

Fall Wishlist

Let's be honest. How cute is this j crew colorblock shirt? I need to see if my J Crew outlet carries it. Like tonight. I love colors and that is one thing I don't like about fall fashion, BUT maybe times are a changing!

I'm also a huge fan of a vest. When its get cold, I promise you will find me in one!! I might have to invest in this j crew vest like as soon as possible. I love pink!

I have also been eying some brown skinny jeans. I found some at Old Navy but of course they didn't have my size. Going on a hunt for some soon.

And what girl doesn't have these Tory Burch leather boots on her wish list? They are def WAY higher than any price I would ever pay for boots but I can still lust over them right?

I've also been secretly wanting some booties. I think these MK booties are so cute!! Again, may have to find some others in my price range #postgradproblems

Probably the first thing I will be buying when I have some extra spending $$$ (aka never) is a nice, big, brown handbag. This Marc Jacobs handbag is exactly what I am looking for!!

Annnnd again, I fall in love with something super pricey. I really need a new silver watch. I love my gold watch I have that Tyler gave me for Valentines, but I really like this  MK silver watch to go with my other silver jewelry.

This piece of  leather jewelry is just a fun, colorful addition to an outfit!

And I LOVE infinity scarves! I am sure that so many stores have them, and I really like this leopard print scarve from Alice + Olivia. Cuteness!

So basically I need to win the lottery or kick super butt at work to make some more moola to buy all of these things. Until then... a girl can dream!

Happy Thursday, it's almost FRIDAY!

200 + Race for the Cure

Wow, I cannot believe this is my 200th post! I never really thought I would keep up with this little 'ol blog of mine!

What better way to celebrate than to tell you about my race yesterday (yeah, sorry no giveaway, I'm sure that was on your mind, haha. Still don't know how to do those).

Yesterday I ran the Bloomington/Normal Komen Race for the Cure with a bunch of other ZTA alumnae. ZTA's national philanthropy is Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.

Anyways, yesterday at 4:15 I got up to be in Champaign by 5:30 then Bloomington at 6:30 to volunteer for the race then run at 9.

It was AMAZING.

Breast cancer is such a terrible disease, but such a curable one if caught early. I worked in the Survivor Tent and it was incredible to see all of the women who had survived this nasty cancer. Everyone there was decked out in their pink!

"Traveling" ZTA table cloths- they go to all of the Illinois Race for the Cures

The survivor tent had a complimentary nail station where you could get pink sparkly polish, lots of food, and other goodies.

I got to lead the "processional" of all of the survivors in the ferocious wind, but it was so fun. Everyone was clapping and cheering for them.

Survivors in pink!

During the 5k, I teared up a lot. I kept running (past) other runners that had "I run in Celebration of my mom" or "for Grandma" or "Mary Lou." Every single person at the event had someone in their life who had been affected by breast cancer. I loved every minute of it. So many strong women (and men) have overcome this and was there to tell their story.

Those in my life who have survived breast cancer-- family friends, the organist for our wedding, my roommates' moms, friend's moms (and dads!)

His wife has been cancer free for a year. They were DECKED out!

1 in every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her life. That is terrifying.

The race was So fun and I am waiting to get my final time back. My ipod said 27:56 but I am pretty sure it was shorter than that!

Do you run for a cause?

Ta ta,
