10K Success

I did it! Yesterday I completed the Illinois Marathon's 10K in Champaign!

I ate pasta like crazy and drank more water and gatorade all week than I had in my whole life! When I went to go pick up my packet for the race on Thursday, I was so overwhelmed by all of the people at the University of Illinois. It was one of my real first times on campus and whoa is it huge!

I got my number!

Officially on the list!

Yesterday on race day, roommate, Jessie, and I left our apartment at 5:30 am to head into town. I was up at 4:50, woofed down an Eggo and a glass of water, and off we went! It POURED the entire way there and we were so stressed out because A) we were nervous B) it was cold C) it was raining D) we didn't train like we should have. She did the 10K relay with coworkers and I did the 10K by myself!

Jessie and me

Regardless, it was so much fun!

Getting ready!

I had planned on walking some because I have been having some issues with my achilles tendons and calves. I think I need new shoes (which I ordered Friday) so have more stability.

Hope they are comfy!

I ran the entire time!! I was so so proud of myself. My adrenaline was pumping like crazy and I was so enthralled by all of the people that I just kept running. I had a great playlist and even sprinted out the last 1k or so! I didn't even sweat much because it was SO chilly!!

I finished and got this medal! Tyler was waiting on me in the bleachers and was able to snap of picture of me at the finish line.

Yikes, puffy and red faced! This picture doesn't even do my redness justice.

Success!

This was by far one of my top 3 experiences ever. I would give it my #2, and #1 being snow skiing in Greece in 2010 which was amazing.  So glad I signed up last minute. I have been icing my legs like crazy to try to beat my soreness.

My next goal is a Half Marathon. Not sure where I want to do it yet. Any suggestions?

Thanks to those of you for the emails, texts, tweets, and facebook messages wishing me good luck. It was SO worth it!!

Friday Fancies: Date Night

With our busy schedule, it seems like putting a real date night has been difficult lately. Tyler and I are famous for just haning out on the couch and cooking something simple instead of going out somewhere in Champaign. Don't get me wrong, we love a good date night, but it has just been hard getting one together!
Our usual date night is going out to our favorite sushi place in Champaign, Kofusion. We are bad about trying new places because we just really love Kofusion. We did find this cute place about an hour away at a vineyard in Paris (Illinois, of course) that we are dying to try again!

Here is what I would wear if we went back to the cute little place at the vineyard!

What would you wear to date night??

Pinteresting: Chair Fabric

I have been super slack about posting pictures of my ideas for my newly refurbished kitchen table and chairs. The table is now in the kitchen (yay!) with the ugly chairs that Tyler "borrowed" from my landlord's storage container behind our house. Hehe. Whoops. I'm ready to get these things finished!

My mom is an interior decorator and she and I have been talking about patterns and fabric for my chairs. Since they will live at Tyler's house (until WE have a house), I don't want them to be super girly. I did buy him a new shower curtain from our beloved Target that is kind of prissy, but whatever. I like it and I look at it! Girly > brown. I was thinking kind of farmhouse-ish BUT I just love bright colors and pretty patterns!

Here are some fabrics/prints that I've seen on Pinterest that are getting my gears turning for my chairs! Which one do you like? Input needed and appreciated!!

Or should I just do a neutral cream? I don't want them to get dirty? What do you think!?

A Few Things

I am writing a quick post to ask you all a couple of things.

1. Please pray for Tyler's grandmother, Mom Mom. She had hip surgery last week and is 91. We just found out some not so good news today. BUT we did just did Facetime with her and it was so fun! Tyler's mom teaches handicap kids and has her ipad with all of these games for the kids and Mom Mom has had a blast playing the games, too! Thanks for your prayers! She is getting her nails done tomorrow and is hanging in there. She is so sweet! :) She lived with Tyler's family when he was growing up so she is really special to him!

sweet mom mom!

2. I am running a 10k on Saturday and am SO not prepared. I am having a horrible pain in my achilles tendon and calves. I guess it is from running on uneven ground? Ideas? Do you have pain when you run? I am also going to need new running shoes soon, so those suggestions would be great too! I normally stick to Asics. What do you like?

Thanks for reading!
